October: When the Flower Bows

Each month one picture is released with its text. October's is the one that began this whole project: the tulips that would not stand up straight.
The artist's own words for it are on the picture's page. What can be added here is only a note on the print: at A2 on German Etching the frosted glass holds a faint warmth that the screen does not show, and the pink of the tulips sits back into the paper rather than on top of it.
It has a companion. Resting is the same season's tulips, white this time, laid on the shoulder of a frosted sphere and photographed in black and white. Hung side by side, the two read as one thought in two moods: the flower that bows, and the flower that has put its weight down. The ledger kept by the artist shows he issued Resting in his largest editions; When the Flower Bows he had not yet sold at all, so its numbering here begins at no. 1.

The A2 print, held up over Sagami Bay at dusk, and framed at blue hour.
